The migration, which happened between 19, was arguably one of the greatest demographic shifts in American History. But there is one migration so massive that it dwarfs all of the others in comparison: The Great Migration.ĭuring the Great Migration, an estimated six million African Americans left their homes in the South in search of a better life in the North. A couple examples include the Gold Rush and the Dust Bowl Migration.
